Twitter just announced today in their official blog about the launch of a completely new profile design. The new design is being rolled out to a small group of users today and will eventually be available for all the users. Twitter is saying this new design will make things easier (and more fun) to express ourselves through the new and improved profiles.
The whole layout of the new design is very reminiscent of the Facebook timeline. Some features of the new design will include a prominent cover photo and profile picture (much like Facebook), Best Tweets where the tweet with more engagement will appear larger, pin tweet to the top and filtered tweet that allows you to just view tweets with images/videos or the ones with replies, etc.
The design also prominently features large images, a new design trend we’re seeing in major social media networks such as Facebook and Google+. The design seems like it has been geared for desktop users and there haven’t been any updates on how the mobile site and app designs are being changed.
With these changes, business profiles can certainly utilize features such as the cover photo, pinned tweets and bigger images to create more engagement. See the upcoming changes live in some of these profiles:
